We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Learning Resource Centre Manager to take a leading role in planning, promoting and organising our school’s Learning Resource Centre along with supporting and developing our student’s literacy and reading skills.  You will be pivotal in supporting their development into effective, independent learners with a life-long passion for reading.

As the successful applicant you will:

  • – Develop the schools LRC as a hub of educational and recreational resources
  • – Organise, promote and run the schools reading/literacy programme for students
  • – Plan for 1:1 reading interventions to address gaps in student’s reading

We are seeking a person to work with the Exams Manager to supervise the delivery of formal and informal examinations. The successful candidates would, in collaboration with other staff, undertake a range of duties including supervision of whole year groups, small groups or individuals during their examinations. You may be required to scribe for some students. The successful candidate will work with the Exams Manager on a range of tasks including:

  • Setting up the exams hall
  • Ensure students are seated according to the seating plan
  • Observe students during the exam
  • Collate all papers following the exam for return to the exams office

Full training will be provided to ensure all staff feel confident to undertake the full range of duties. Examinations take place at various times during the year and supervision will be required for morning, afternoon or all day sessions. As such, this will be a sessional post with no guaranteed number of hours. Different shift patterns will be available by agreement with the Exams Manager but particularly during the formal examinations period in May and June. The salary will be paid on an hourly rate of approximately £11.98 per hour (gross).

Duties take place Monday to Friday, during school hours, throughout the school year, as and when required.  The working hours will be variable in accordance with the exam timetable.  Peak times in our calendar are November and May/June.

As part of a team you will be maintaining the security and smooth running of the exam rooms in accordance with external awarding body requirements. This will include keeping exam papers and materials secure before, during and after exams, supervising and observing vigilantly throughout the exams and ensuring candidates are dismissed appropriately after exams. You will invigilate pupils taking both Internal and External Exams. You will need to be patient, calm and diplomatic with a professional approach to work and confidentiality.
The role is offered on a zero hours contract basis at a rate of £ 11.98 per hour (inclusive)

Salary £21,752 to £24,447 per annum (FTE), Actual Salary £16,114 to £18,110 per annum

If you are looking to get into teaching via a SCITT route or other teacher training avenues then this would be a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive school and gain some valuable experience. You will play an integral part in ensuring  student in your care make at least expected progress.
